Nearly 100 parents and students in the Great Oaks Legacy Charter School community received COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday during a pop-up clinic hosted by the school’s administration.
The clinic was held at Great Oaks Legacy Middle School campus on South 16th Street in partnership with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center to open up appointments and additional walk-ins to ensure a safe learning environment for staff and students amid the pandemic. The clinic was intended to not only respond to demand from the school community, but to increase access to the vaccine in Newark where less than a quarter of its residents are fully vaccinated.
